About Me

Candece Tierney

The three principles I base my therapeutic practice on are respect, a holistic practice, and tracking success. Respect for the client is the most important of my principles. Being allowed into your world is a privilege that I hold with high regard and will always respect. Secondly, a holistic practice is important because the therapy process should help you achieve a balance of all parts of your life. We know they all, mental health, physical health, and spiritual health, intertwine and impact each other. Finally, I find goal setting, if appropriate, is an important piece in therapy in that it provides a structure to help us define what you want to change and then helps to provide hope as you observe positive change happening for you.

My education comes from The University of Florida and from The University of Missouri-Columbia. While considering best practices for my clients I chose a skill set that I felt would fit both with what would be most helpful for my clients and who I am. Therefore I have chosen training in hypnosis, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Rapid Trauma Resolution, military issues, couples counseling, smoking cessation, and gerontological issues.

The charm of the area brought me here to work for a local community center 7 years ago. A few years later I opened my private practice. When not working I volunteer with several organizations around the island, enjoy the outdoors, and relaxing with family and friends.
